Ok, so I haven't updated this in a while. It has been a crazy last several weeks. But, our little man is with us, and WOW am I in love with this guy! Here's how it all 'went down'! :)
Due Date: Feb 17th
Arrival Date: January 21st
Weight: 8 lbs 3 oz
Height: 20 inches
Name: Paxton Mack Johnson
Sorry a bit long! I came to the hospital on the 20th for a non stress test because I wasn't able to get my kick counts in over the weekend. The test that should have been 20 mins was 6 hours because they couldn't keep his heart rate on the monitor. We finally finished about 2:30 that afternoon. I started having a couple contractions about 1pm that day but they said it was going to be normal since I was 36 weeks. I had two bags of IV fluids because turns out I was dehydrated too.
So, I went home and was kinda hurting that night. But it didn't seem any worse than the two weeks previous so I didn't think anything about it.I got up and went to work the next day and didn't feel bad or anything. About 2pm on the 21st I got up from my desk and went to the restroom and all was ok. I walked around the corner and sat with some of my employees and got up to answer the phone and felt this gush of fluid, but thought maybe I didn't empty my bladder. So I ran to the bathroom. It stopped so I thought it was ok. Walked out of the restroom and asked one of my co workers what it was like when your water broke and she freaked out and said I needed to go to the doc. I said I would run home and change and call the doc just to make sure I wasn't paranoid from the day before. So I go home call the doc (they didn't answer) so I called the hospital and the doc was paged. She said get to the hospital ASAP. So I got up and called TJ and felt a HUGE gush of water. So I got in the car and drove to the hospital. Called my hubby on the way.
Water broke at 2:15 pm, got checked in the hospital at 2:40 pm, they checked me and I was dialated to an 8. 45 minutes later I was dialated to a 9 and they said I didn't have time for an epidural. I was pretty upset about that, but I got a spinal block about 3pm. My hubby finally made it to the hospital. Apparently the block slowed my labor down and it wore off about 5. I started pushing about 5:45 and at a bit after 8 he still hadn't come down as much as needed and i had been pushing for over 2 hours. The doc said we needed to do something so we used the vacuum. It took 6 minutes to get him out with the vacuum and he was born at 8:27pm WITH NO MEDS. I hadn't been checked for Group B Strep yet (was supposed to happen on the 26th) so they were going to keep us 48 hours anyways.
Well, the day we thought we might get to go home, the doctor noticed he was developing jaundice and thought 24 hours under the bililights would solve it. Well, it didn't. It is the 26th and we are still here. His bilirubin levels have remain24 to 36 hours and haven't changed today. They said it is because of the hematoma on his head from being vacuum extracted that is causing his levels to be so high. so, we are just praying for more and more poops :) so it will go down. The doctor came in today and seemed very optimistic about the spot on his head going down and that will help us to go home soon.
He is the most beautiful little thing I have every seen! Had I known that the vacuum was going to hurt him so much and keep him from going home, I might have tried something different. I dont' know what, but something. I am just heart broken to know that I caused this! It is so hard to know that he can't go home yet. I finally left the hospital today for about an hour and half since we got here on the 21st. It was nice to get out. But, I really want my little baby at home!
TJ has been the most tremendous man through all of this, and to see the love on his face everytime we see Paxton just makes me melt! I can't imagine my life without either of these guys! Please pray for us as we hope to bring him home very soon. Thanks for reading!
I will post pics soon!

Jessi, the birth of Paxton is almost identical with the birth of my first son, Trace. Didn't realize I was in labor, water broke, went to hospital and had baby in 6 hours, discovered he had come the canal too quickly, had a blood clot between scalp & skull. Had to keep his head elavated at night until he was 3 months old--then his head was beautiful with no sign of a pointed head. Also Trace was born 6 weeks early, weighed 7 lb 7 oz. It will all turn out just fine, Jessi, I love you and just use this time to get your health back. GG
